Types of Treatments


Relaxation Massage

Relax the mind and body 

Sarah uses light massage techniques to completely relax the body and thus relaxing the tight muscles. Many people carry their stress with them throughout the day and tend to tense the muscles without realizing it. A relaxation massage aims to calm down the nervous system and allow the whole body to release any built-up tension and stress.

In the classical treatment, this gentle technique of long strokes, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, and kneading movements are used to release muscle tensions, remove the pain, and improve blood circulation. Relaxation massage reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular program for stress management. The main purpose of relaxation massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles; this shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissue of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. 

Deep Tissue Massage

Heal and rejuvenate tired, sore muscles

Neuromuscular massage techniques are employed to detect muscle tissues that have become distressed. Effective manipulation of stiff or painful musculature using specific hand positions, strokes, and specifically developed techniques, bring about relief from muscle tensions and increase flexibility. Treatment for low back and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel, sciatica, headaches, knees, and neck are amongst the common complaints that deep tissue specialists treat.

Micro scarring is caused by injuries and often surgery; this ailment is commonly benefited from this type of therapy. Often the treatment and pressure begins gently and can gradually increase to meet clients' specific needs. Treatment ranges from generally therapeutic to corrective in nature. Deep tissue massage can benefit the body by increasing muscle strength and length.


Sports Therapy Massage

Train, Treat, and Repeat 

Sarah has a background in sports therapy and personal training and has worked with professional athletes to keep the body running healthy and aligned. Specific pressure is applied to the muscles, connective tissue, and joints to alleviate any soreness or stiffness. Soft mobilization and stretching techniques are used to help recover and resolve any chronic (long-term) injuries and to regain the muscle strength and movement.

Typically, sports massage is utilized to alleviate and promote healing of specific complaints. Trained in sports massage, Sarah performs massage techniques based upon knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and related massage therapy relevant to human sports performance. However, one does not need to have a serious physical complaint to greatly benefit from sports massage. There are typically five time periods when sports massage is appropriate:

Post event

Specific sports are known to habitually affect particular muscles or groups of muscles, tendons, and ligaments that are used excessively. By concentrating on the specific muscle groups most used in a given sport, a massage therapist can help an athlete increase mobility, range of motion, oxygen supply, blood flow, and help maintain higher performance.

Myofascial Cupping

Clearing the body naturally

Feeling stressed, injured, or simply feel tight? Myofascial Cupping is an amazing technique used by therapists to promote nutrient-rich blood to sore areas of the body, providing increased circulation to stretch muscle tissue. Plastic cups utilize a suction pump to create a vacuum effect drawing the skin, fascia, and muscles into the cup. The benefits include increased circulation, increased joint range of motion, reduced muscle tension, and increased lymphatic drainage.

Reiki Healing

Aligning the chakras and balancing the energetic system

This is an ancient practice used for thousands of years. Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive healing practice aimed to align the energetic fields of the body. Sarah has a wonderful intuition for what each body might be holding onto or needs to let go of and allows healing energy to flow through her clients to clear out any unwanted blockages. It is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's life force energy is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress; if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and wellbeing.



Through the Life Span

The Touch Research Institute, University of Miami, has completed many research studies on massage therapy. These researchers have found evidence that massage has significant benefit for babies, children, adults, and elderly persons. Massage therapy has been shown to enhance growth in premature babies in the hospital, calm aggressive adolescents and help kids with Attention Deficit Disorder. Elderly persons in nursing homes have responded to massage with decreased agitated behaviour.

On the Job

Corporations and other institutions are discovering that massage therapy programs for employees pay off. Job stress has been identified as a serious health care issue that relates to decreased productivity, decrease job satisfaction, increased work related injury, errors and absenteeism. Research reported in the Financial Times 1, and in Massage Therapy: The Evidence for Practice 2 show that massage is a good tool for reducing work stress.

Stress, Depression, and Immunity

Massage therapy studies have shown positive results in boosting the body's own natural cellular immune response, decreasing pain by pumping up the body's levels of endorphins and decreasing the blood levels of cortisol which is a hormone related to stress. These beneficial results are proving helpful for people with critical illnesses like cancer and HIV infection and for those who suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.


Athletes, coaches, and professional trainers use massage. Massage therapy is used at sporting event to help athletes performance and to help prevent injury. Massage may improve muscle recovery and decrease muscle soreness after exertion. Athletes also benefit from the therapy's positive effects on heart rate and blood pressure, and the general relaxation response that reduces anxiety and improves mood.3

Pregnancy and Childbirth

Receiving Massage therapy is safe and beneficial during pregnancy. Many women enjoy the skilled care of a massage therapist to help to alleviate back, neck, and shoulder pain associated with changes in the body during pregnancy. The general benefits of increased circulation and enhanced well-being are valuable therapeutic effects. Specially trained massage therapists can even participate during childbirth to help decrease pain and anxiety.
